The Famous Guinness World Record Steak Curry Bread

The bakery’s standout item, the Steak Curry Bread, made headlines in 2019 when they sold an incredible 5,947 pieces in just 8 hours, earning them a Guinness World Record! Even today, it remains a signature item loved by countless customers.

Their steak curry buns sell out at incredible speed, but don’t worry—if you wait for just five minutes, you’ll get a fresh, hot one straight from the oven.

Priced at ¥410, the bread features a crispy exterior and is loaded with a juicy, steak-filled curry. It’s always served fresh from the oven and is so popular that it often sells out the moment a new batch is put on the shelf. When I was there, freshly baked curries kept disappearing within minutes.

Tasting the World’s Best-Selling Steak Curry Bread

After a bit of a wait, I finally managed to get my hands on one!
The curry inside is rich and deeply flavored, and it’s perfectly complemented by the crunchy bread coating. But the real surprise is the amount of steak—while you’d normally expect just a small bit of meat, this curry bread is packed with about five chunks of steak! The meat is tender, well-marbled, and utterly satisfying.

Inside the Bakery

Pan Pâtisserie isn’t just about the curry bread. The store is packed with all kinds of eye-catching and tasty breads:

Eye-Catching Breads

These breads, shaped as turtles, bears, and dog paws, are incredibly cute and a distinctly Japanese treat!
  • Meat-Filled Paw-Shaped Bread (¥300): Packed with pork filling, perfect for kids.
  • Turtle-Shaped Melon Bread “Kameron” (¥160): Cute and popular with all ages.
  • Gutsy Cheese Bread (¥300) & Walnut Bread (¥195): Full of flavour, keeping customers coming back for more.

Classic Breads

They also have classic sweet red bean paste buns (anpan) that have been loved for over 50 years. I’d recommend them even to those who don’t have a big, sweet tooth.

They also offer traditional flavors like Anpan (sweet red bean bread) and Yomogi Bread (mugwort-flavored bread). Each is made with care and loved across generations.

TV-Star Mini Burgers

These are their mini-sized burgers! Since they’re small, you can easily try a variety of different flavors.

Pan Pâtisserie’s mini burger series has even been featured on TV! Half the size of regular burgers, they’re perfect for kids—or for adults wanting a little taste alongside other breads.

  • Lotus Root Teriyaki Burger (¥380): A healthy twist with crunchy lotus root in place of meat.
  • Pickle Burger (¥300) & Tartar Fish Burger (¥320): Unusual but delicious, packed with flavor despite their small size.

In Summary

Pan Pâtisserie offers so much more than just the world-record-winning steak curry bread. The bakery is full of breads that are not only fun to look at but are even better to eat. With seven locations across Japan, including Tachikawa and Futamatagawa, it’s a perfect spot for bread lovers or anyone looking for a cute gift or snack.
