Hello there! Today, I’m taking you on a little walk to GREEN SPRINGS, a stylish lifestyle complex that opened in 2020 in Tachikawa, Tokyo. It’s a mix of shops, restaurants, cafes, a hotel, offices, and even a concert hall. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

If it’s your first time in Tachikawa, don’t worry. I’ll show you an easy walking route from Tachikawa Station with photo references (imagine them here!).

Starting from Tachikawa Station

Tachikawa Station is a fairly big station served by the JR Chuo Line, so don’t worry if you feel a bit lost at first—that’s totally normal! There are several exits, but the easiest ones for GREEN SPRINGS are the East or West Exits. (If you happen to come out of the North Exit, you’ll still be fine, but the East or West Exits make it simpler.)

Step-by-Step Directions

Follow the signs for the North Exit. This will lead you towards LUMINE, a shopping center directly connected to the station.

Look for the Isetan Department Store. As you leave the Lumine area, you’ll see the Isetan department store right in front of you. From here, walk straight ahead towards the Tachikawa-Kita Monorail Station area (basically, keep to the left-hand side as shown in the photos).

Walk under the monorail tracks. If you happened to come out of the JR North Exit instead, simply turn right and walk under the tracks—Isetan will be your landmark on the right-hand side.

Pass Takashimaya and Orion Bookshop. Keep walking under the tracks and you’ll notice Takashimaya (a department store) on your right and a building with Orion Bookshop on your left. Just ahead, you’ll see an escalator. Head down.

Continue straight along the monorail line. After coming down the escalator, simply keep walking along the monorail line. You’ll pass a cinema on the way.

And just like that, you’re at GREEN SPRINGS! Welcome!

Tips for First-Time Visitors

The walk takes around 7–10 minutes at a leisurely pace.
Signs in English are limited, so it helps to remember “Isetan” as your main landmark.

Tachikawa is a great day-trip spot. You can combine GREEN SPRINGS with Showa Kinen Park, which is just next door and beautiful in every season.

Add a bit of adventure: try a segway in Showa Kinen Park!
