Hello there! Today, I’m taking you to Peko-chan Milky Donuts, a charming little doughnut shop inside the Yokohama World Porters shopping mall, right by the Minato Mirai waterfront. It’s not just any doughnut shop—it’s run by Fujiya, the famous Japanese confectionery brand best known for its Milky sweets. With only around 11 shops nationwide, this place is a bit of a hidden gem.
In this post, I’ll give you the low-down on what makes Milky Donuts special, what’s on the menu, and of course, my honest taste-test review.
Hop on, hop off, and discover Yokohama at your own pace!
Klook.comWhat’s Milky Donuts All About?

If you’ve been in Japan for a while, you’ve probably spotted Fujiya’s “Milky” candies—those creamy, nostalgic sweets that almost every Japanese person grew up with. Milky Donuts takes that same gentle sweetness and transforms it into fluffy, freshly-fried doughnuts.
Highlights
- Doughnuts filled with Fujiya’s original Milky cream—rich but not overly heavy
- Fried in rice oil, giving them a lighter texture than your average doughnut
- A mix of classics and seasonal specials, so there’s always something new to try
Because this particular shop is inside Yokohama World Porters, it’s a perfect stop while sightseeing around Minato Mirai, one of the city’s most popular areas.
From seaside temples to city skylines- explore it all in one unforgettable day!

Atmosphere & Crowds

It’s mostly a takeaway shop, but there are about 8 seats if you fancy eating on the spot or need a little sit-down between sightseeing stops.
The shop itself is decorated with Peko-chan, Fujiya’s iconic mascot—she’s a cheeky little girl with pigtails and a red dress, instantly recognizable across Japan. Even the doughnut boxes feature her design, which makes them great for photos or as a souvenir.
Crowd check
On weekdays: around 5pm, I only saw one person waiting.
On weekends: queues form in the afternoon, but they move fairly quickly.

Taste Test—The Classic ‘Yuki-shio Milky’

I went for their signature ‘Yuki-shio Milky’, and here’s what I thought:
Texture: Surprisingly light! Thanks to the rice oil, it isn’t greasy at all and feels airy rather than heavy.
Cream: Packed with silky Milky cream—sweet but not cloying. It melts away quickly, leaving no sickly aftertaste.
Flavor: The balance of sweetness with a hint of salt is spot on. That touch of saltiness really lifts the Milky cream, making it more addictive than you’d expect.
