Hello, it’s Mari Tabi here! I recently visited LAUNA, one of Yokosuka’s most popular restaurants for trying the local specialty, the Yokosuka Navy Burger.
What’s more, LAUNA is one of the restaurants where you can use the Yokosuka Mankitsu Ticket—a special sightseeing pass that bundles train and bus fares, a meal, and an attraction into one neat deal. It’s a fantastic option if you fancy exploring Yokosuka for a day without breaking the bank.
In this post, I’ll share what makes LAUNA a great choice, their top dishes, and of course my honest review of the famous Navy Burger.
Step abroad and see Yokosuka from the water- Navy ships and harbor views up close.
Klook.comWhat’s Special about LAUNA?

Plenty of places in Yokosuka serve the city’s famous Navy Burger, but LAUNA is especially welcoming to visitors. The space is bright and spacious with a relaxed vibe, and the menu extends well beyond just burgers. You can also try Yokosuka Navy Curry (another local specialty) and even dishes made with Misaki tuna, a regional brand of high-quality tuna.
And since it’s included in the Mankitsu Ticket scheme, it’s a perfect choice if you want sightseeing, transport, and a meal all in one convenient package.
Quick Guide: What is the Yokosuka Mankitsu Ticket?

Recommended Dishes
Yokosuka Navy Burger – ¥2,072

Based on a traditional US Navy recipe, this 100% beef patty comes sandwiched in a bun made with natural yeast. It’s juicy, hearty, and authentically American in style.
Yokosuka Navy Curry – ¥2,072

Only certified restaurants can serve this iconic curry. LAUNA’s version features beef simmered for richness and chunky pieces of chicken—it’s comforting and filling.
Misaki Tuna Steak Omelette Rice – ¥2,750
A creative twist on Japanese omurice made with premium Misaki tuna. The fluffy egg pairs beautifully with the rich tuna, and it’s even an award-winning dish!
Yokosuka Cherry Cheesecake – ¥1,080

Inspired by a US Navy recipe, this cheesecake is both photogenic and delicious. A perfect sweet finish.
Big Rocket Parfait
A towering dessert of ice cream and fruit—the kind you’ll want to share with friends (serves 3–4).
My Taste Test: The Navy Burger (Junior Size)

I went for the Junior Navy Burger, which turned out to be plenty filling! The 100% beef patty was juicy, topped with tomato, lettuce, bacon, and onion. You can customise it to your liking, leaving out ingredients you don’t want.
The bun was crisp and lightly toasted, giving it a lovely texture. Even the “junior” portion was satisfying for me (and I usually have a healthy appetite). It came with chips—a small size was generous, and apparently the large completely covers the plate!
Waiting Time & Service
I was lucky—no wait to be seated. Food, however, took about 30 minutes to arrive, which isn’t surprising given how popular the menu items are. If you’re visiting at peak lunch hours, it’s best to allow extra time.
LAUNA in the Spotlight

The walls are lined with autographs from celebrities and photos from TV shows that have featured the restaurant. LAUNA has even been on the popular Japanese programme Adomachikku Tengoku—so it’s well-loved by both locals and visitors.
Final Thoughts
If you’re planning to try a Yokosuka Navy Burger, LAUNA is a safe bet. Spacious, welcoming to visitors, and part of the Mankitsu Ticket scheme, it ticks all the boxes for a hassle-free lunch stop.
Pair it with sightseeing around the naval port, Mikasa Park, or the Dobuita Street area, and you’ll have a classic Yokosuka day out.
So if you’ve landed on this blog searching for “Navy Burger”, “Kaigun Curry”, or “Yokosuka lunch”, I’d highly recommend LAUNA as your go-to spot for an American-style meal with a Japanese twist.
Stay by the sea in Yokosuka- the perfect base for burgers, ships and seaside strolls.
